Teeth cleaning and coat add-ons in Worthing: what's published beyond the basic groom

A standard full groom covers a bath, dry and cut. A handful of Worthing's eighteen listed groomers go further, naming a specific teeth-cleaning or deshedding treatment as a separate service rather than folding it into the general groom.

Teeth cleaning

Molly & Friends Dog Hotel in Broadwater publishes the fullest teeth-cleaning price list in this directory: ultrasonic teeth cleaning from £40 for a first session (£60 for a large dog), with follow-up sessions from £20 to £25. The business, run by Sally-Anne Hall and licensed by Worthing Borough Council, won Dog Boarding & Grooming Company of the Year 2024/25 at the South England Prestige Awards; boarding was full at the time of checking, but grooming and teeth cleaning are still offered. Scruff to Buff Dog Grooming, a home-based salon in Steyning run by Vanessa, offers Emmi Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning as a course of ten sessions; no price is published, so ask when you call.

Deshedding and matting treatments

Katie's Dog Grooming in Durrington lists a bath-and-deshed service alongside its full groom and puppy welcome groom. Tidal Tails Dog Grooming, based in the Wick area of Littlehampton and run by pet stylist Laura and a second groomer with a further decade of combined experience between them, offers a mineral-mud deshedding treatment on top of its standard full groom, bath and mini-groom options. Fresh Paws Dog Grooming, the mobile van-based service covering much of the wider Worthing area, is the only business in this directory to publish an exact matting fee: £10, alongside separately priced flea treatment (£10) and tick removal (£3).

Why these sit outside the standard groom

A mineral-mud deshed treatment or an ultrasonic teeth clean both take measurably longer than the equivalent step folded into a routine groom, which is why groomers who offer them price or package them apart. Fresh Paws' itemised approach, breaking out a matting fee, flea treatment and tick removal separately from its groom prices, is the most transparent in this directory and gives a useful sense of what these add-ons cost when a business does publish figures rather than quoting on the day. Shedding and matting both tend to peak around the spring and autumn coat-blow, so a dog that sails through winter without needing a deshed treatment may still need one booked ahead of those seasons.

What to ask when you book

  • Whether a deshed treatment is included once you've booked a full groom, or charged as an extra on top — Fresh Paws' published £10 matting fee is the only fixed figure to compare against.
  • Whether teeth cleaning is an ultrasonic system, like Molly & Friends' or Scruff to Buff's Emmi Pet, or a manual scale, since the methods and time involved differ.
  • How many sessions a course like Scruff to Buff's ten-session teeth-cleaning plan actually takes to complete, and over what period.
  • Whether the treatment is suitable for your dog's age and coat condition — a heavily matted coat may need clipping short first, before a deshed treatment can do much good.
