How to choose a dog groomer in Stirling and Falkirk
Dog grooming is unregulated in the UK, so the checking is on you. This directory covers forty groomers across Stirling, Falkirk and the surrounding towns, from long-established salons to home-based one-person operations found through a single directory listing. Read this before you pick one.
Check how well the business is documented
Of the forty businesses listed here, nine were confirmed from a first-hand working website plus at least one other independent source (marked high confidence). Eighteen are medium confidence, usually meaning the details come from a directory listing, a Facebook page, or two independent sources that agree, rather than the business's own working site; a few of these had a phone number confirmed separately after the initial research, which is what moved them up from low confidence. Thirteen are low confidence: found in only one directory listing or search result, with details that couldn't be independently checked. Every low-confidence listing here says so plainly and asks you to confirm the details by phone before booking.
Two flagged address conflicts
Top Knotch Grooming, in Grangemouth, has two different addresses across the sources checked, and the business's own website would not load to settle which is current; its listing here flags this and asks you to confirm the address by phone before making the trip. Underdog Pets, in Cumbernauld, has a similar conflict: one directory gives a Glencryan Road address and another gives a different Cumbernauld Village address for what appears to be the same business and website, and this hasn't been resolved either.
Grangemouth & Bo'ness and Callander & Dunblane are thin
Coverage is uneven across the eight areas in this directory. Grangemouth & Bo'ness has only three confirmed businesses, and several more names with active Facebook pages, including Perfect Paws Dog Grooming, Val's K9 Cuts and Canine Care, could not be tied to a street address or phone number without relying on Facebook content alone, so they aren't listed. Callander & Dunblane also has only three: no business with a confirmed street address was found actually based in Callander itself, so all three recorded here trade from Dunblane, though Short Bark & Sides explicitly serves Callander as part of its round. If you're in either area, expect to be looking at a groomer based just outside it, or a mobile service that covers it, rather than a wide local choice.
Qualifications and one-to-one setups
Several groomers listed here mention a specific qualification: City & Guilds is the most commonly cited, held by groomers at Luv A Dug, The Paw Pad Grooming and Spa Treatments, Paws and Relax Professional Dog Grooming and Collar and Comb Dog Grooming, among others. A number describe themselves as one-to-one or home-based rather than a multi-dog commercial salon, including Sophie's Dog House, Megans Mutts Dog Grooming, Linda Aitchison Dog Grooming and Short Bark & Sides; Linda Aitchison's listing specifically mentions working with no cabinets or cages and taking extra care with nervous and older dogs, worth asking about if that matters for your dog.
Mobile groomers and cats
Three of the forty businesses run a mobile grooming service: Dog Grooming on The Farm (natural and organic grooming, also based at a farm near Alloa), Luv A Dug (mobile alongside its Dunfermline base) and Dial-A-Dog-Wash (Fife), a local franchisee of the wider mobile dog-wash network working a defined round across Fife. If you want a cat groomed rather than a dog, Pampers Dog Stylists & Spa and Wags Cat and Dog Grooming both list cat grooming alongside dogs, and Puddle to Pamper also grooms cats and guinea pigs.
Reviews
No rating is shown for any business in this directory. Ratings here are only ever shown when they come from a business's own profile on an allowed, independently verifiable review platform, and no such profile was successfully found and confirmed for any groomer covered in this research. The absence of a star rating on a listing here is not a mark against the business, only a reflection of what could be independently verified at the time of writing.
Who was left out, and why
Three branches of a national in-store grooming chain, in Stirling, Cumbernauld and Kirkcaldy, were seen and deliberately excluded, as this directory doesn't list national chain grooming departments. A cluster of four differently-named businesses in Glenrothes, all sharing one identical High Street address in a single online listing, were dropped entirely rather than guessed at, since there was no way to tell which, if any, was accurate. A handful of other named leads, including one in Glenrothes with conflicting partial phone numbers that couldn't be resolved, and a Falkirk home-based groomer whose own profile said she was currently taking a break from bookings, were held back for the same reason: a name alone, without a confirmed and current way to contact the business, isn't enough to list. Several more leads found only through a Facebook page, with no address or phone number recoverable any other way, aren't included either.
