How to choose a dog groomer in Slough and Windsor

Dog grooming is unregulated in the UK, so the checking is on you. This directory covers 38 groomers across Slough, Langley, Windsor & Eton, Maidenhead, Marlow & Bourne End, Uxbridge & Hillingdon, Hayes & West Drayton and High Wycombe, ranging from long-established salons with a working website to home-based one-person operations found through a single directory listing. Read this before you pick one.

Check how well the business is documented

Of the 38 businesses in this directory, 11 were confirmed from a first-hand working website or booking page plus at least one other source (marked high confidence). Sixteen are medium confidence, usually meaning the details come from a directory listing, Facebook page or a single secondary source rather than the business's own working site. Eleven are low confidence: found on a single directory listing with no independent website, social page or second source to check the details against. Every low-confidence listing here says so plainly and carries the same advice: confirm what's on offer and the price before you book.

Some areas are thin

Coverage is not even across the eight areas. Marlow & Bourne End has only three listed businesses (Happy 'n' Healthy Pets in Marlow, Scoobies in Marlow Bottom, and Dial A Dog Wash Bucks and Berks covering Bourne End and a wide radius beyond it), and Hayes & West Drayton has three (Pawfect Style Dog Grooming SPA, Dog Grooming by Alison and Classy K9s Grooming Studio) after one further Hayes lead, Hot Dogs Grooming, was excluded here for having no confirmed phone number. Slough town centre and Langley are also modest, at four each. Windsor & Eton and Maidenhead are the best covered, at seven each, followed by Uxbridge & Hillingdon and High Wycombe at five each. If you're in Marlow, Bourne End, Hayes or West Drayton and don't find enough choice here, it's worth widening your search to a neighbouring area on this list, several of which cover mobile rounds that travel further than their base suburb.

Duplicate names and address conflicts, flagged rather than hidden

A few records needed untangling rather than simple listing. Curly K9 Grooming books through a Fresha page for an address on Stirling Close in Windsor; a second Fresha page lists a further location on Sheepcote Road for the same name, treated here as one business, and Companies House gives yet a third address in Holyport that looks like a former or administrative address rather than the current salon. Paws at Penny's is based in Maidenhead but also has a second address recorded under Windsor in one directory; it's listed once, under Maidenhead, its long-standing base. Dogwood Slough Pet Grooming Spa trades under the Dogwood chain's "Slough" branding but its actual street address, on Bath Road in Taplow, sits in the Maidenhead postcode area rather than Slough town centre, so it's listed under Maidenhead here, not Slough, to avoid confusion. Happy Hounds Grooming Studio also appears on some listings as "Happy Hounds Hillingdon" for the identical Sutton Court Road address; it's listed once. Dog Grooming by Alison trades under its own domain as "Dogs by Ally" but independent directories consistently use "Dog Grooming by Alison" for the same address and phone, the name used here.

Who was left out, and why

Research turned up a number of leads that don't appear in this directory, each for a specific reason rather than an oversight. Hot Dogs Grooming in Hayes was dropped because the phone number found alongside its address was identical to a different business's confirmed number in the same batch of results, almost certainly a mix-up rather than a shared real number, and no other phone could be found. Betty's Groom Room in Slough was dropped after the only source resembling its own website turned out to be an unedited template site with an unrelated address and a placeholder phone number, not real content for this business. Two listings at the same Manor Farm Close address in Windsor, "The Groom Room" and "Bath & Bone", were both left out rather than guessed at, since there was no way to tell from directory data whether this is one business scraped under two names or two separate units. Three Pets at Home Groom Room concessions (Slough, Uxbridge and High Wycombe) and a further "The Groom Room" outlet in Windsor were excluded on the standing rule against national chain-store grooming concessions; Dogwood's two branches and the Dial A Dog Wash franchise were kept because each has a genuine, named local operator and a real base rather than a lead-generation page for a call centre. A batch of Maidenhead and High Wycombe leads, including Berkshire Dog Grooming, Paws of Perfection, K-9 Cuts, Fluffy Pups Grooming and S & K Dog Grooming, were deliberately left out of this edition only to keep area counts proportionate, not for any quality concern, and are a ready-made list for a future top-up pass. A handful of addresses just outside this directory's postcode ranges, including leads in Harefield, Denham, Hayes' UB4 district and Wraysbury, were excluded as out of area rather than folded in.

Qualifications

City & Guilds training comes up most often: BarkShear Grooming's three groomers (Lucinda, Kiera and Megan), Totally Mutts Dog Grooming Services (also a British and Irish Groomers Association member), Paws at Penny's canine beautician of more than 30 years, and Truly Trims Dog Grooming in Cowley all cite the qualification. Ask for it by name if it matters to you, since nothing here is independently verified beyond what each business states about itself.

One-to-one and home-based setups

Several businesses describe working with one dog at a time rather than a busy salon floor: BarkShear Grooming, Chloe's Dog Grooming (home-based in Fifield, trading as "The Cabin in the Woofs"), The Fur Studio in Ickenham, and Paws N Tails Dog Grooming in the Cressex part of High Wycombe, which specifically describes a calm setting for nervous or anxious dogs. Signature Canines, a mobile round based in High Wycombe, also specialises in nervous and elderly dogs and does not take breeds covered by the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Mobile groomers

Four of the 38 businesses here work from a van rather than a fixed salon: Buzzpup Dog Grooming (Langley, Slough, Iver and Windsor, running since 2016), Dial A Dog Wash Bucks and Berks (a wide radius from Bourne End, run by Tim Haines), Signature Canines (High Wycombe and surrounding villages) and Claire's Canines (based in Loudwater, High Wycombe). Comb and Collars Grooming Studio in Maidenhead also offers a mobile visit-at-home option alongside its salon appointments. If you need someone to come to you outside these rounds, ask a salon-based groomer whether they also travel.

Reviews

No business in this directory carries a rating from an independently verifiable source. The only allowed-source page actually checked with review data was Curly K9 Grooming's Fresha listing, which showed no reviews at all. No Google Maps, Trustpilot, Booksy or Yelp page with a linkable rating was found for any other business in this batch. Ask to see recent work, photos of finished grooms, or a reference before booking anywhere here, rather than relying on a star rating that doesn't yet exist for this area.

Area coverage

By area: Windsor & Eton and Maidenhead have seven listed businesses each, Uxbridge & Hillingdon and High Wycombe have five each, Slough town centre and Langley have four each, and Marlow & Bourne End and Hayes & West Drayton have three each, the thinnest coverage in this edition. Mobile groomers based in one area often cover several of the others, so check a business's stated coverage before ruling it out just because its base is a town over.
