How to choose a dog groomer in Norwich
Dog grooming is unregulated in the UK, so the checking is on you. Norwich's twenty listed groomers range from long-established salons with a full price list to Facebook-only businesses with a name, phone number and little else. Read this before you pick one.
Check how well the business is documented
Of the twenty businesses in this directory, fifteen were confirmed from a first-hand website plus at least one other source (marked high confidence). Four are medium confidence, usually meaning the details come from a directory listing, Facebook page or a single secondary source rather than the business's own working site. One, K-nine Dog Grooming Services, is low confidence: a Buxton Road address and mobile number found only via a directory listing, with no website or social page to confirm services, prices or hours. Six more businesses found during research were left out of this directory entirely because no phone number could be confirmed for them, however documented their address: Cassie's Canine Cuts, K's K9 Kuts, Albert's Dog Groomers, Collar & Comb Norwich, Oaksleigh Groomers and Dogs At Home Dog Grooming. Two national chain branches (Pets at Home Groom Room, at Hall Road and Sprowston Retail Park) were seen and deliberately excluded, as were several lead-generation template sites carrying no named local operator.
Two flagged address conflicts
Research found two cases where a business's own details don't quite match a second source, and kept one address rather than guess which is right. Diva Dogs' own website gives 109 Shipfield, NR3 4EH, while a directory gives 2 Bell Road, NR3 4RA, for the same business name; the own-site address is treated as current here. Tom and Toto's grooming spa is described by every source as being in Sprowston, but the postcode given for its White House Farm site (NR13 6LB) actually falls slightly east, toward Rackheath; it is listed under Sprowston, per every source's own description, with the postcode oddity flagged rather than silently corrected. Separately, K-nine Dog Grooming Services and the unrelated K's K9 Kuts share a similar name but different streets and phone numbers; they are not the same business, and only K-nine (which has a confirmed phone number) appears in this directory.
Qualifications
City & Guilds training comes up most often: Ivy's Dog Grooming (Dovile, Level 3 since 2018), Clip & Dip Dog Grooming (Sophie Woolterton), Bow-Wow Groomers and Shabby to Chic Grooming Boutique (Shelby, over ten years' experience) all cite a City & Guilds Level 3 qualification. Pointer's Posh Pooches' Danny Pointer holds a Level 3 Dog Grooming Certificate, and Platinum Paws Mobile Dog Groomer's Tracey lists an iPet Level 3 certificate alongside City & Guilds Level 2 and 3. Ask for the qualification by name if it matters to you.
One-to-one and home studios
Several businesses describe a one-to-one approach: Dolly & Scruffy's Dog Grooming Studio, Lolly & Co. Dog Grooming Services and Shabby to Chic Grooming Boutique all say appointments are one dog at a time or cage-free with a consistent groomer, and The Grooming Barn describes a similar single-client, distraction-free setup without using the same phrase. For an anxious, elderly or reactive dog, it is worth asking directly how a smaller studio handles a single appointment slot even where this isn't advertised on the website.
Mobile groomers
Three of the twenty businesses in this directory work from a mobile van or unit rather than a fixed salon: The Mobile Dog Groomers Norwich and Precious Pawws Mobile Dog Grooming, both covering Norwich and beyond (Precious Pawws says all of Norfolk), and Platinum Paws Mobile Dog Groomer, whose round is specific to Taverham, Drayton and Ringland. If you need someone to come to you outside these areas, ask a salon-based groomer whether they also travel.
Cats and small animals
Hound & Co Grooming Boutique grooms cats as well as dogs, and Shabby to Chic Grooming Boutique goes further, also grooming small animals including rabbits, guinea pigs and tortoises alongside cat nail care. If you keep anything other than a dog, these are the two confirmed options in this directory.
Reviews
No business in this directory has an independently checked, dated star rating shown here. Reviews found during research for Diva Dogs specifically mention cocker spaniels as regular clients, which is worth noting but isn't the same as a rating checked against Google or another independent source. For everyone else, ask to see recent work or a reference rather than relying on a star count that isn't shown here.
Where they are
Coverage is heaviest in Norwich city centre and Thorpe Hamlet (five businesses), followed by the Golden Triangle & Eaton, Hellesdon and Costessey (three each), then Sprowston and Wymondham (two each), with one confirmed independent apiece in Thorpe St Andrew and Taverham. If you're in one of the thinner areas, the nearest well-documented option or a mobile groomer covering your postcode is worth trying first.
