How to choose a dog groomer in Loughborough, Hinckley and the surrounding villages
This directory currently lists 28 dog groomers spread across eight areas: Loughborough (4), Shepshed and Quorn (7), Hinckley and Burbage (5), Earl Shilton and Barwell (5), Melton Mowbray (2), Coalville (2), Ashby-de-la-Zouch (3), and Market Bosworth (0). That spread is uneven by design, not by omission: it reflects what's genuinely trading in each place rather than padding out the thinner areas with businesses that don't belong there.
Market Bosworth has no groomer of its own
Market Bosworth and the surrounding CV13 villages, including Barlestone, Nailstone, Shackerstone and Sutton Cheney, have no dog groomer based there that we could confirm is currently trading. Anyone in that area needs to travel to a neighbouring town, such as Hinckley, Coalville or Ashby-de-la-Zouch, or arrange a visit from a mobile groomer based further out. Melton Mowbray and Coalville are also thinner than the rest, with two published groomers each, and Ashby-de-la-Zouch has three; if you're in one of those towns it's worth checking availability early rather than assuming a same-week slot.
Salon, home-based or mobile
Of the 28, fifteen work from a fixed salon premises and twelve from a home-based setup, with one true mobile service, Bark & Bubbles of Melton Mowbray, which travels to groom dogs at their owner's home rather than the other way round. A home-based or one-to-one salon, such as Nails to Tails Dog Grooming in Ashby-de-la-Zouch or Doggie Dazzlers Dog Grooming in Earl Shilton, usually means one dog is seen at a time in a quieter setting, which can suit a nervous dog better than a busier commercial salon.
Qualifications and first aid
Several groomers publish a specific qualification rather than just calling themselves "professional." City & Guilds Level 3 diplomas are held by the groomers at Woody Woods Pet Services, The Dog Room Loughborough, Nails to Tails Dog Grooming, Growlers and Lola's Professional Dog Grooming; Doggie Dazzlers Dog Grooming's groomer holds an iPET Level 3 diploma and is fully insured; Cloud K9 Professional Grooming's groomers are Level 3 qualified; and The Hound Lounge's groomer holds Certified Professional Groomer and Advanced Groomer qualifications. Canine first aid or first responder training is specifically mentioned for Woody Woods Pet Services, The Hound Lounge, Lola's Professional Dog Grooming, Cloud K9 Professional Grooming and Doggie Dazzlers Dog Grooming, which is worth asking about if it matters to you and isn't listed for a groomer you're considering.
Grooming alongside boarding or day care
A handful of businesses combine grooming with wider pet care: Roslyn's Dog Grooming near Quorn offers boarding alongside grooming and has more than 30 years' experience; Excel Groom N Care in Shepshed combines grooming with dog walking, home boarding and day care and also grooms small pets beyond dogs; Woody Woods Pet Services in Shepshed is licensed for day care and boarding by Charnwood Borough Council and was rated 5 stars by the council for its standards; and Hinckley Pets in Home at Westfield Farm in Earl Shilton, run by Tracy since 2012, offers walking, boarding, day care and pet visits alongside grooming. Cloud K9 Professional Grooming in Barwell is the one business here that also grooms cats, not just dogs.
Collection, drop-off, and evening or weekend slots
If getting to an appointment is the sticking point rather than the groom itself, Roslyn's Dog Grooming offers a collection-and-delivery service, and Nails to Tails Dog Grooming offers collection and drop-off for clients who can't get there in person. Doggie Dazzlers Dog Grooming offers weekend and evening appointment slots for owners who can't get away during a normal working day. Canine Cuts in Hugglescote and Hinckley Pets in Home both publish set opening hours (Canine Cuts: Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5pm, plus every other weekend 10am to 5pm; Hinckley Pets in Home: Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, closed Sunday), so you can see at a glance when they're open rather than having to call and ask.
An honest note on reviews
15 of the 27 groomers listed here show a Google rating, taken from the business's own Google profile and linked from the listing; the others have no rating from a source this directory can link to. That's not because the businesses are unproven, it's because we only show a rating when it comes from an independent review source with a working, verifiable link, and none was found for any business in this batch during this research pass. If that changes, ratings will be added; until then, treat the absence of a star rating here as "not yet checked," not as a mark against a business.
What was left out, and why
Four further businesses we found in this area publish only an address, with no phone number confirmed from the business's own website, a social media page, or any other source we could check; on the rule that every listing here needs a phone we can stand behind, they aren't published. A later phone-lookup pass has since confirmed a number for six businesses previously excluded on this ground, including one in Ashby-de-la-Zouch whose only listing had looked several years old with no working website or social page since; they're now listed above. One business whose Facebook page named Melton Mowbray turned out, on checking its own website, to be based in Leicester and travelling to Melton Mowbray rather than located there, so it's covered under Leicester's own listings instead of here. A business in Oakthorpe near Ashby was left out because its postcode falls outside every town this site currently covers. None of this is permanent: a business left out for a missing phone or an unclear location is a candidate to add once that gap is filled, and any business can ask to be corrected or added by getting in touch.
