How to choose a dog groomer in Llanelli and Kidwelly

Dog grooming is unregulated in the UK, so the checking is on you. This directory covers 21 groomers across four areas: Llanelli (SA15), Llanelli East and Bynea (SA14), Burry Port and Pembrey (SA16), and Kidwelly (SA17). This is a new page for the network, split out of the neighbouring Swansea and Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire pages, so a handful of the businesses listed here were previously covered on one of those.

Check how well the business is documented

Of the 21 published, 3 are high confidence (confirmed from the business's own working website plus at least one other source): Cutz 4 Mutz Dog Grooming Academy, Doggywoggydoodaa and Louisianna Grooming Service. 16 are medium confidence, usually meaning the details come from a directory listing, a Facebook or Instagram page, or a phone number confirmed independently rather than the business's own working site. 2 are low confidence and carry a note that the details are from search results only, confirm by phone: Dial a Dog Wash (Kidwelly & Cefneithin) and Hair of the Dog Mobile Dog Grooming.

Who was left out, and why

25 businesses were researched for this page; 21 are published here. Hounds By Helen, a farm-based groomer in Llwynhendy, and Ci Hapus Dog Grooming Spa in Kidwelly are left out because no phone number could be confirmed for either. Humbug Dog Walking and Services in Burry Port is left out because a mobile Yelp listing for it shows the business closed, and nothing else checked contradicted that, so it stays off this page unless that changes. Cutz4mutz, a similarly named salon also recorded in Burry Port, is left out too: it only appeared on one directory search and never resurfaced in any of the wider searches that reliably found every other genuine local business again and again, which points to a stale or misfiled listing for Cutz 4 Mutz Dog Grooming Academy in Llanelli rather than a second, separate salon.

Multi-town operators

A handful of businesses here also trade elsewhere. Louisianna Grooming Service runs a second salon in Llanwrda, but its Llanelli premises is a real, established local base in its own right. Dial a Dog Wash (Kidwelly & Cefneithin) is a local franchise van rather than a national chain, on the same basis as other Dial a Dog Wash units elsewhere on this network. Hair N Hounds moved its whole operation from Birmingham to Felinfoel in 2023 and has no remaining Birmingham premises, so it's treated as a normal local listing.

Mobile groomers

Two of the 21 businesses here work from a van rather than a fixed salon: Dial a Dog Wash (Kidwelly & Cefneithin) and Hair of the Dog Mobile Dog Grooming, which covers Llanelli and the wider Carmarthenshire area from a heated van. Both are low confidence, so ask exactly what's covered and get a firm price when you call.

Cats and other services

Cutz 4 Mutz Dog Grooming Academy, Louisianna Grooming Service and Glamorous Grooming all groom cats alongside dogs. Maesybont Dog Grooming & Micro-chipping also offers microchipping alongside grooming. Everyone else in this directory is confirmed for dog grooming only.

Reviews

No business on this page currently shows a rating from an independent source this directory can link to (Google, Trustpilot, Fresha, Booksy or Yelp). Several star figures turned up during research on other directory sites, but none could be traced back to a genuine, linkable profile from an allowed source, so none is shown here. Ask to see recent work or a reference instead of relying on a rating you can't check yourself.

Where they are, and where they're thin

Coverage is heaviest in Llanelli East and Bynea (9), followed by Llanelli itself (7), then Kidwelly (4). Burry Port and Pembrey is genuinely thin and it's worth saying so plainly: only one confirmed groomer, Pawfect Paws Pembrey, serves the whole area. Kidwelly is thin too, with four confirmed groomers against a wide catchment that also takes in Ferryside, Trimsaran, Llansaint, Mynyddygarreg and Carway, none of which turned up a genuine local business in any source checked; those villages are best served by the nearest listed Kidwelly or Llanelli groomer for now.
