How to choose a dog groomer in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough

A second lead, Cutz for Mutz in Thrapston, was found but had no confirmed phone number anywhere checked, so it isn't published here. This rural stretch between Kettering, Peterborough and Corby appears to genuinely have few independent groomers. If you're based in Oundle or Thrapston itself, Sitting Pretty or a mobile groomer covering a wider round, such as Posh Petz Mobile Pet Grooming or Ruff Mutt Mobile Dog Grooming, may be your most practical options.

Two address or phone conflicts, flagged rather than guessed at

Claire's K9 Cuts, in Raunds, is listed at 57 Mallows Drive, the more specific address found; a second source instead attaches the same phone number to Raunds Town Football Club. Rather than pick one silently, both are noted on its listing, so confirm the current address by phone before turning up. Separately, Cosset Pets in Wellingborough town centre and Glenvale Pet Grooms in nearby Hardwick are listed with what is, on the sources checked this pass, the identical phone number; both remain listed as separate businesses because their addresses, websites and service lists are genuinely different, but this is flagged on both listings so you can confirm which business you've reached before booking.

Qualifications

City & Guilds training comes up most often: Booley's Professional Dog Grooming Salon and Grooming Paws Desborough (both Level 3, the latter also Level 2), All Paws Dog Groomers (Level 2) and Knots N Tangles (Level 3) all cite it, alongside House Pets Spa's City & Guilds and ICMG qualified groomers. Zen Dog Grooming's groomer Khadija holds an iPet Network Level 3 Diploma, Barker & Barnet's groomer Bryony is an International Certified Master Groomer, and Sitting Pretty Dog Grooming's groomer Phoebe holds a Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Dog Grooming with CPD-certified canine first aid. Ask for the qualification by name if it matters to you.

One-to-one and home-based setups

Several businesses describe working with one dog, or one household, at a time rather than a busy multi-dog salon floor: Whispers Grooming (Rothwell's only one-to-one groomer, by its own description, specialising in nervous dogs), Grooming Paws Desborough (one-to-one, no muzzles), The Mud Room (one household of dogs at a time), AristoMutts Dog Grooming (strictly one-to-one), Alpha Grooming (strictly one-to-one) and Knots N Tangles (one dog at a time, to reduce anxiety). If a calm, single-appointment setting matters for an anxious or reactive dog, these are worth asking about directly.

Mobile groomers

Two of the 39 businesses here work from a van rather than a fixed salon: Ruff Mutt Mobile Dog Grooming, whose purpose-built Kettering headquarters also serves Northampton and Wellingborough, and Posh Petz Mobile Pet Grooming, covering Kettering, Desborough, Rothwell, Burton Latimer, Corby and Wellingborough from a Desborough base. Both are worth asking about if you need someone to come to you outside their usual round.

Multi-branch operators

Cutz for Mutz, in Thrapston, was excluded for lack of a confirmed phone number anywhere checked. Pets at Home's Groom Room branches and the Pets & Friends pet-shop chain in Corby were excluded as national chains, though Harley's Furrytail Beautique, which trades from a concession inside one Pets & Friends store, was kept as the independent operator running that concession.
