How to choose a dog groomer in Harrow and north-west London

Dog grooming is unregulated in the UK, so the checking is on you. This directory covers 28 groomers across eight areas of Harrow and north-west London: Harrow and Wealdstone (HA1-HA3), Pinner and Northwood (HA5-HA6), Wembley (HA0, HA9), Stanmore and Edgware (HA7-HA8), Ruislip and Northolt (HA4, UB5), Southall and Greenford (UB1, UB2, UB6), Hendon and Colindale (NW4, NW9), and Mill Hill and Golders Green (NW7, NW11). Read this before you pick a groomer.

Three areas with only one groomer

Wembley, Southall and Greenford, and Hendon and Colindale each have only one confirmed dog groomer in this directory. Wembley has The Cuddle Club, a grooming salon and spa in the Wembley Park development. Southall and Greenford has Paws in the City (Greenford), primarily a veterinary practice that also runs a grooming service. Hendon and Colindale has Top and Tail Pawfection, a home-based one-to-one groomer. Research turned up no other genuinely local, verifiable dog grooming business in any of these three areas; if you're based there, it's worth asking a nearby area's groomer, or a mobile groomer, whether they also cover your postcode.

Check how well the business is documented

Of the 28 businesses listed, three were confirmed from a first-hand working website plus at least one other source (marked high confidence): Barking Baths Dog Grooming & Accessories, Spoilt Rotten Dog Grooming & Boutique (Pinner) and Plush Pooches Dog Grooming Salon. Eighteen are medium confidence, usually meaning the details come from a directory listing, a Facebook page, or a phone number confirmed independently rather than the business's own working site. Seven are low confidence: Hoskin Hounds, Shampooch Mobile Ltd, Pristine Pups, Grooming Marvellous (Stanmore), Poochies, Waggy Wonderland Ltd and Zuzi's Grooming. Each of those seven listings says so plainly, with a note to confirm details by phone before booking.

A note on phone numbers

Three businesses had no phone number in the original listing they were found on: Lily's Club Dog Grooming, The Pampered Pooch Pinner and Mill Hill Happy Paws. A phone number for each was confirmed independently before this directory went live, and their confidence was raised from low to medium accordingly. Every business shown here carries a phone number that has been checked against its own address, not just picked up from a shared listing.

Who was left out, and why

Five businesses with a confirmed address had no phone number that could be verified anywhere and are not listed: Mucky Pups (Harrow), My Kool Paws, Diva Dogs (Edgware), Happy Little Paws Dog Groomers and Paws & Claws (Golders Green). National chains are excluded throughout, including Pets at Home / Groom Room branches in Greenford and Hendon. A wider set of otherwise well-documented groomers sit just outside these eight areas and aren't listed here: businesses based in Ealing, Brentford, Feltham, Isleworth, Hayes, West Drayton, Uxbridge, Hillingdon, the Watford district, Buckinghamshire, and the Finchley postcodes (N2, N12), all of which fall under a different town's coverage on this site or sit outside Greater London entirely.

Qualifications

City and Guilds training comes up for two businesses here: Plush Pooches Dog Grooming Salon, whose head groomer holds a City and Guilds qualification to distinction level with more than 13 years of experience and is a British Dog Groomers Association member, and Top and Tail Pawfection, whose groomer holds a City and Guilds qualification and is fully insured. My Fur Lady's groomer holds Level 3 dog grooming training and a canine first aid certificate. Ask for the qualification by name if it matters to you.

One-to-one and home-based setups

Several businesses describe grooming one dog at a time rather than running a busy multi-dog salon floor: Barking Baths Dog Grooming & Accessories (one dog at a time so the whole space is free), Woofside Dog Grooming (a home studio by Ruislip Woods), Top and Tail Pawfection (a home-based studio in Hendon and Colindale) and Statham's 23 (a single groomer, one dog by appointment, in Golders Green). Short Bark and Sides (Edgware) and Central Bark Groomers both work from a groomer's own home rather than a shopfront. Woofside Dog Grooming's own website carried a notice, at the time of this research, that it is closed until 6 October 2026 for family reasons, worth checking before you call.

Mobile groomers

Three of the 28 businesses here work from a van or mobile round rather than a fixed premises: Shampooch Mobile Ltd (Harrow Weald), My Fur Lady (Stanmore, also covering Harrow and Watford) and Mill Hill Happy Paws (a two-groomer round based in Mill Hill). It's worth asking any home-based or salon groomer near you whether they also travel, since several describe wider coverage than their own postcode.

Cats and other animals

Sallywags in Northwood and Paws in the City (Greenford) both groom cats alongside dogs. Everyone else in this directory is confirmed for dog grooming only.

Reviews

No business in this directory currently carries an independently verifiable rating from an allowed review source. Some online listings show star ratings alongside contact details for a few of these businesses, but none of those ratings comes from a source this directory can verify and link to directly, so none is shown here. Ask to see recent work, a reference, or photos of previous grooms rather than relying on a rating you can't check yourself.

Where they are

Coverage is heaviest around Mill Hill and Golders Green (6), followed by Harrow and Wealdstone, Pinner and Northwood, and Stanmore and Edgware (5 each), then Ruislip and Northolt (4), with Wembley, Southall and Greenford, and Hendon and Colindale the thinnest at 1 confirmed groomer each. If you're in one of those three thin areas, the nearest well-documented option in a neighbouring area, or a mobile groomer covering your postcode, is worth trying first.
