How to choose a dog groomer in Grimsby and Scunthorpe
Dog grooming is unregulated in the UK, so the checking is on you. This directory currently lists 33 groomers across Grimsby, Scunthorpe and the surrounding towns, researched from directly-fetched business websites, online listings and, for one business, a phone number confirmed via Google Places. Read this before you pick one.
How well each business is documented
Six of the 33 businesses were confirmed from a first-hand working website plus at least one other source (marked high confidence): Woof Love Dog Grooming, Purrs & Paws, Barking Boulevard Dog Grooming, Helen's Holistic Hounds, The Shaggy Dog Grooming Salon and Ziggys. Fifteen are medium confidence, usually meaning the details come from an online listing, a Facebook or Instagram page, or a local news report rather than the business's own working site. The remaining twelve are low confidence: each was found through a single online listing with no independent second source, so their listing here says so plainly and asks you to confirm details by phone before booking.
Two businesses sharing one address
All Shook Up Dog Grooming by Netty and Temple Of Groom Lincolnshire both give 89 Pasture Street, Grimsby as their address, but different phone numbers. This looks like a shared premises with two separate groomers rather than one business under two names, so both are listed here, each with a note to confirm by phone which business you're actually booking before you turn up.
Other flagged conflicts
Woof Love Dog Grooming's own contact page confirms 248 Heneage Road, Grimsby, though some online listings give a different address on Cleethorpe Road; Heneage Road is used here. Milliebees Dog Groomers is listed at 173 Freeman Street; one search result had initially placed it on Ladysmith Road, but a business listing and its Facebook page both confirm Freeman Street. Milo Grooming Studio, in Scunthorpe, is recorded at 75 Plymouth Road; a second source gave a conflicting postcode for what appears to be the same business. Purrs & Paws gives its own postcode as DN34, just outside the DN31/DN32 range this directory otherwise uses for Grimsby town centre, but it's kept there as the closest fit. BonaFido Dog Grooming, based in Goxhill near Barrow-upon-Humber, sits in DN19, between Barton-upon-Humber and Immingham and outside either area as named here; it's listed under Brigg & Barton-upon-Humber as the nearer fit.
A rated business you won't find published here
Marliz K9 Services, a Grimsby town centre salon booked through Fresha, carries a 5.0-star rating from 290 reviews on its own Fresha page — the only independently verifiable rating found anywhere in this town's research. It doesn't appear in this directory because no phone number for it could be confirmed from any source, including its Fresha listing, and this directory only publishes businesses with a confirmed phone number. It's left out on that basis alone, not on quality, and may be added once a number is confirmed.
Thin coverage in four areas
Coverage is uneven. Scunthorpe (9) and Brigg & Barton-upon-Humber (7) are reasonably well covered. Grimsby town centre and Louth have five each. Cleethorpes, Immingham and Goole have only two confirmed businesses each, and Humberston & Waltham has just one, Canine Creations Lincs in Waltham. These four areas — Humberston & Waltham, Cleethorpes, Immingham and Goole — are genuinely thin, and it's worth saying so plainly rather than padding them out: if you're based in one of them, also check the nearest well-covered area or a mobile groomer that might cover your postcode, and expect a smaller pool of options than in Scunthorpe or Grimsby itself.
Who was left out, and why
Several other leads turned up in research but don't appear in this directory. Pets at Home Groom Room branches in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe were excluded as a national chain. Klever K9s, which kept surfacing in grooming-adjacent searches, turned out to be a dog training business, not a groomer. Snoots Dog Grooming Training Centre in Goole trains people to groom dogs rather than grooming dogs itself, so it's excluded too. Fur Friendly Professional Grooming, which came up for both the Humberston/Waltham and Louth areas, has permanently closed according to its own website. An unnamed listing for a business at College Yard, Brigg shares a phone number with Lynn's Grooming Parlour in Scunthorpe, which looks like duplicated data rather than a genuine second business, so it isn't listed separately. Paws & Claws, a pet shop, and Immingham Car Care were both excluded as not being pet groomers at all. Mrs Cooke's Mobile Dog Grooming & Dog Walking Services was found only via a Facebook page with no address, postcode or phone that could be confirmed, so it's excluded rather than listed with nothing solid to check.
Qualifications
City & Guilds training comes up often: Woof Love's Joanna Rouse (a Diploma in dog grooming stylist qualifications, plus an Animal Nursing Assistant Level 2), Milliebees Dog Groomers (Level 2), Purrs & Paws (Level 3 in dog grooming, alongside separate cat-grooming qualifications), Diamond Dogs Grooming (Level 3) and Helen's Holistic Hounds (Level 3, plus Canine First Aid and a Reiki Practitioner Level 2 with an animal specialisation). Floofs & Hoofs' Megan is a Certified Freelance Groom with the British Grooms Association. Ask for the qualification by name if it matters to you.
One-to-one and appointment-only setups
A few businesses describe working with one dog at a time rather than a busy multi-dog salon floor: Barking Boulevard Dog Grooming (one-on-one appointments, off-street parking, hydrobath), Helen's Holistic Hounds (a one-dog-at-a-time policy with free consultations and health checks included) and Floofs & Hoofs, which works from a home-based grooming room. If a calmer, single-appointment setting matters for an anxious dog, these are worth asking about directly.
Mobile groomers
Two of the 33 businesses here work from a van rather than a fixed salon: Floofs & Hoofs, covering the area around Louth alongside dog walking and freelance equine grooming, and Stop to Paws Dog Grooming, covering Rawcliffe near Goole. If you need someone to come to you outside these rounds, ask a salon-based groomer whether they also travel.
Cats and other animals
Purrs & Paws and Temple Of Groom Lincolnshire both groom cats as well as dogs, and Purrs & Paws won Salon Groomer of the Year (Cats) in 2025. Canine Creations Lincs in Waltham grooms cats and other small animals too, and takes referrals for elderly cats from local vets. Everyone else in this directory is confirmed for dog grooming only.
Reviews
None of the 33 published businesses currently carries an independently verifiable rating from an allowed review platform. The single rated business found in research, Marliz K9 Services on Fresha, isn't published here for lack of a confirmed phone number (see above). Ask to see recent work, a reference, or check a business's own Facebook or Instagram page for photos and comments instead.
Where they are
Scunthorpe (9) and Brigg & Barton-upon-Humber (7) have the most choice, followed by Grimsby town centre and Louth (5 each). Cleethorpes, Immingham and Goole (2 each) and Humberston & Waltham (1) are thin, so check a neighbouring area or a mobile groomer's coverage if you're based there.
