The Hound Hut - Allestree and The Hound Hut - Mickleover are the group's second and third branches, after its original Wirksworth salon, and both charge the same £55 for a professional ultrasonic clean alongside their full groom, bath and brush, and deshedding services. Belpaw Dog Grooming, the home-based salon in Belper run by groomer Kirstine since March 2022, names its equipment specifically as certified Emmi Pet ultrasonic technology, and charges less for a repeat visit than a first one, £50 initially and £25 for each session after that. A fourth business, Woof Woof Derby in Mickleover, lists plain "teeth cleaning" among its services, but its own website could not be reached during research, so no method or price can be confirmed for it beyond the listing itself; call to ask.
What ultrasonic cleaning actually does
An ultrasonic scaler uses a vibrating tip to break up plaque and tartar on the visible part of the tooth without sedating the dog, which is why it is offered as a groom add-on rather than a full veterinary procedure. It suits dogs with a mild build-up and a temperament calm enough to sit through it. It does not reach under the gumline the way a vet's scale and polish under anaesthetic does, so a dog with heavy tartar, receding gums or loose teeth needs a vet, not a groomer.
