How to choose a dog groomer in Coventry

Dog grooming is unregulated in the UK, so the checking is on you. Coventry's sixteen listed groomers range from a 25-year salon on Albany Road to a Facebook-only operator with no address. Read this before you pick one.

Check how well the business is documented

Of the sixteen businesses in this directory, seven were confirmed from a first-hand working website plus at least one other source (marked high confidence). Eight are medium confidence, usually meaning the details rely on a directory listing, a Facebook page or a single secondary source rather than the business's own working site. One, Becky's Dog Grooming in Nuneaton, is low confidence: it has a Facebook-only presence with no street address found across any source checked, and its listing here says so plainly. Six further leads found during research - Groovy Grooms, SK9 Grooming, Stylish Dogs, Donna's Dog Grooming, Whitestone Pooch Parlour and Longford Dog Grooming - had no phone number that could be confirmed independently, so all six were left out of this directory entirely, regardless of how promising their other details looked.

Two flagged address conflicts, and one case of shared names

La Pooch Parlour's Companies House record gives 17B Westhill Road as its registered office, while a separate directory listing instead shows a trading address on Norman Place Road, a different Radford street a short walk away; the Companies House address is treated as current here, with the alternative flagged rather than silently merged. Millie's Paws Grooming Studio is listed at a Coney Lane, Longford address by most sources, but one aggregator instead names a training-academy unit on Bayton Road in Exhall - the phone number is identical everywhere, so it's kept as one business with the training unit noted as a possible second site. Separately, Becky's Dog Grooming in Nuneaton and La Pooch Parlour's owner, also named Becky, in Coventry's Radford area, are two different people running two different businesses in two different towns who simply share a first name.

Who was left out, and why

Beyond the six excluded for no confirmed phone number, research turned up several more leads that don't appear in this directory. Coventry Cat Groomers was excluded as cat-only and outside this niche. Doggy Deluxe, based near Leicester, covers Nuneaton as one of several towns but is a multi-town regional operator based well outside the Coventry area, not a local independent. Two Pets at Home Groom Room branches, in Walsgrave and Nuneaton, were excluded as a national chain, as intended for this directory. Dapper Doggies Grooming was checked and dropped as a lead-generation template site running an 80-plus town-page network with no address, phone or named owner. A handful of promising Kenilworth leads - Tangles Dog Salon, Bobby Dazzlers Dog Grooming and Alfie's Dog Grooming, run by someone named Sophie on Facebook and Instagram only - turned up but couldn't be confirmed with a working site, address or phone before this round of research closed, so none of the three appear here.

Qualifications

City & Guilds training comes up most often: Coventry Dog Grooming's mobile team, and LD Dog Grooming's Laura, who holds Levels 2 and 3 plus a VetSkill emergency first aid certificate for cats and dogs. Coco & Co's groomer holds an OCN Level 3 Diploma, Canine First Aid and a Level 2 VIS canine ultrasound scanning qualification, and Pin Up Pooch Parlour's groomer also cites an OCN Level 3. La Pooch Parlour's Becky holds a Level 4 LCGI (Master Craftsmen) qualification, the highest cited in this directory, and Woof-Woof Land Dog Groomer holds an OCNWM Level 3 Diploma. Coventry Poodle & All Breeds Parlour and Canine Beauticians are both members of dog grooming trade associations. Ask for the qualification by name if it matters to you.

One-to-one and nervous dogs

LD Dog Grooming specifically advertises dryer desensitisation for nervous or reactive dogs as part of a one-to-one appointment, according to a dog-friendly-focused directory listing. If a calm, single-appointment setting matters for your dog, ask any groomer here directly how they handle anxious dogs rather than assuming.

Mobile groomers

Two of the sixteen businesses here work from a van rather than a fixed salon: Coventry Dog Grooming, which covers all of Coventry plus nearby Warwickshire towns, and Clippers Mobile Dog Grooming, run by Naomi since 2022, covering Coventry, Nuneaton and Bedworth. If you need someone to come to you outside these two rounds, ask a salon-based groomer whether they also travel.

Cats and other animals

Millie's Paws Grooming Studio, Oscar's Dog Grooming and Vanity Dog and Cat Professional Grooming all groom cats alongside dogs. Vanity in particular is qualified in both rather than being a cat-only specialist. Everyone else in this directory is confirmed for dog grooming only.

Reviews

No business in this directory has an independently checked, dated star rating shown here. Directory aggregator sites describe customers praising Oscar's Dog Grooming for patience with anxious dogs and flexible short-notice bookings, but this isn't confirmed on a platform this directory can verify and link to, so no rating accompanies it. Two other leads, Stylish Dogs and Whitestone Pooch Parlour, turned up via Yelp listing snippets that returned an access error when checked directly - both are excluded from this directory anyway for lack of a confirmed phone number, so no rating was ever a live question for either. Ask to see recent work or a reference rather than relying on a star count that isn't shown here.

Where they are

Coverage is heaviest in Radford and Nuneaton (four businesses each), followed by Coventry centre and Binley (two each), with Earlsdon, Tile Hill, Kenilworth and Bedworth the thinnest at one confirmed independent apiece. Research for this edition ran out of search budget before those four thinner areas could get a dedicated follow-up pass, so a later update is likely to add more there rather than these being genuinely under-served areas. If you're in one of the thinner spots, the nearest well-documented option or one of the two mobile groomers covering your postcode is worth trying first.
